The Mandala Club development team
The Mandala Club team has considerable experience in real estate development. Between them, the developers have built over 1,600 residential units. Recognizing the significance of the concepts embodied in this project and the opportunity to influence a new paradigm for community development, Richard Bialosky and David Ederer have set aside their other business interests and relocated their families to Vero Beach to focus on the development of the Mandala Club. They have been fortunate to align themselves in this effort with Don Proctor, one of Vero Beach’s preeminent builder/developers.
Richard Bialosky
Richard Bialosky, AIA is a recognized leader in field of green building and green community development. Mr. Bialosky has been practicing architecture and actively engaged in real estate development for over 30 years. He is a graduate of the School of Architecture at UC, Berkeley (1969). Over the past two decades he has received over 60 national, state, and local design awards. Mr. Bialosky pioneered the use non-toxic building materials in the construction of his personal residence in 1987, one of the early models of sustainable ‘healthy home” design. Over the course of his career Mr. Bialosky has developed over 1,500 residential units, as well as many commercial and office projects. In 2000, concerned with the direction the construction industry was continuing to take in the light of real concerns about environmental issues, and frustrated with the notion of fostering change in small incremental steps, Mr. Bialosky left the successful practice he had established in California to devote his energy solely to sustainable development. He is currently involved in the development of Mandala Club in Vero Beach, Florida, one of the most unique projects in the United States—combining the age-old principles of Vedic architecture; non-toxic, health-promoting construction protocols; environmental sensitivity; and an emphasis on planning techniques that promote a sense of community.
Mr. Bialosky began his architectural practice in 1975 and has been actively engaged in real estate development since 1977. Mr. Bialosky resides in Vero Beach, Florida. He is licensed to practice architecture in Florida, North Carolina, and California, and holds NCARB certification. He is on the executive board of the Treasure Coast AIA Chapter and a member of the newly formed City of Vero Beach Architectural Review Committee.
David Ederer
David Ederer gained his first construction experience at the age of 15 working for his father’s construction company in Akron, Ohio. In the course of his tenure in the family business, he went on to help develop and manage the construction of multifamily dwellings, fast food restaurants, office buildings, and retail centers.
After graduating from the University of Akron with a Master’s in Accountancy (1982), Mr. Ederer worked as a CPA in the real estate department of a large Washington, DC accounting firm. In the 1990s, he was a principal in a consulting firm helping developers and a wide variety of companies obtain financing and debt restructuring of their real estate portfolios. David has worked as both a principal and CFO for several companies in the development of their diverse real estate portfolios ranging from numerous hotel properties to residential developments to high end health clubs.
Mr. Ederer and his wife, Helen, moved to Vero Beach in 2001 to work with his business partners in the construction and development of green certified homes and sustainable communities. Navo Builders, an affiliate of Mr. Ederer and Mr. Bialosky is currently building a number of luxury residences employing the principles of Vedic architecture. All of these homes will be certified green. Mr. Ederer is a partner in Mandala Club, targeted to be one of the premier green communities in the United States. David and his partners are also working on three additional developments with a combined total of over 500 residential units and 65,000 square feet of office and commercial space.
David is a member of the Florida Green Building Coalition Land Development Committee. He is also a founding member of the Indian River County Sustainability Committee, chaired by County Commissioner Peter O’Bryan. David is on the executive board of the Treasure Coast Builders Association (an affiliate of the NAHB) and is active on its Green Building Council.
